Five Years Later…
Kaya stood pacing outside of Caleb’s office listening to him
order the groups of scouts to go about their varied patrols. There had been an
increase of hunters in the area lately though not the supernatural kind, just yet.
However some of the new recruits had been bold and wandered too close to the
human’s settlements on the edge of the territory. Many had been spotted and it
caused several of the men in town to take up arms and hunt after the pack when
they were in form, not realizing that they were human too. Many had come back with a broken limb or bullet wounds and it put Caleb to work. “Be careful out
there. If you find any traps, be sure and get rid of them immediately. I don’t
want to risk anymore injuries.”
“Alpha.” The six wolves that held his audience exited the
door one after the other grabbing the packs that had been prepared for them by
the door before shifting forms and rushing towards their designated search
zone.
“Kaya you don’t have to lurk, you have every right to be in
this room,” Caleb called scenting the presence of the teen outside his door.
She poked her head around the corner first and his smile beckoned her forward.
Closing the door behind her she moved towards his desk and he stood to greet
her as she did.
“I didn’t want to disturb you. I heard you speaking with the scouts and tried to keep from being a distraction.”
“You are never a disturbance Kaya and any distraction by you is always well received. What are you up to this morning?”
“I didn’t want to disturb you. I heard you speaking with the scouts and tried to keep from being a distraction.”
“You are never a disturbance Kaya and any distraction by you is always well received. What are you up to this morning?”
“Oh you know this and that.”
“No I don’t know Kaya, it’s why I asked,” he grinned as she
moved closer.
“Well I was talking to Malena…”
“Malena! And what words of wisdom has she bestowed upon you
now?” he smirked as she blushed and tried to turn away. Malena, Kaya’s best
friend, was a very worldly girl. She had seen and done quite a bit of
questionable activities with her mate and was not at all shy about expressing
her keen love of sex and all things naughty. And although she was two decades older
than Kaya, they got along like sisters.
“Uh well she uh said, well we were talking about the falls
and something called…”
“Mate’s Mountain.”
“Yes that. She told me it’s tradition to go there once
you’ve found your mate to complete the bonding rituals and I was kind of hoping to visit them just to check it out.”
“Well it is true many couples go up there after midnight but it’s forbidden for now. With hunters in the area I
have asked that the pack break out of their normal routines and practice caution. I
don’t want anyone to be found out or injured and until we get the situation under
control again I think it’s best everyone avoids the cliffs.” Kaya sighed in
disappointment but nodded her understanding.
Caleb took her hand in his and kissed the back of it
bringing a smile to her face as he did. “We don’t need to stick to the same
traditional methods when it’s time Kaya. We can make our own.” The Grandfather
clock in the hallway struck eleven times drawing his attention to the sounds of
wolves rushing through the yard out back preparing for a hunt. “Was there anything else?”
“No. I was actually just going to go for a walk in a bit.
Alex is waiting for me.” She motioned towards the elder wolf standing out on
the veranda and Caleb followed her gaze.
“So you decided to skip your lessons today then?”
She shrugged before smiling mischievously and starting for
the door. “I’m Luna; I can do as I please.”
Caleb chuckled lightly behind her and motioned for Alex to
enter the room. “Alpha?”
“Take the day off. I’m taking Kaya out for a walk.” He bowed
his respect and exited the room starting towards the den with the rest of the
pack. “Ok, Luna, so where to?”
“You’re taking time off?”
“I’m Alpha; I can do as I please,” he smirked and motioned
for her to take the lead out the back door.
Finding her footing on the dirt path leading towards the north, Kaya walked quietly beside Caleb as he explained what the patrols had uncovered on their first ventures out into the territory. When the conversation turned to her transition and the purpose of a Luna, he explained to her what her responsibilities would entail and everything she should expect as leader of the pack.
She smiled when he told her that she shouldn’t fear the
change as he could sense that was one of the very things that frightened her.
“Of course there will be pain but you have me and I can help keep you from
hurting too much, if you want that is.”
“I don’t know if I will or not. I kind of want to experience the whole thing just to see what it’s all about but at the same time, I’m a girl when it comes to pain,” she giggled. “I don’t really want to hurt. So every bone in the body breaks?”
“And reassembles into stronger, tougher material. Think of
it as a sort of reinforcement to prevent normal human injuries. When that
happens the once you don’t have to worry about it again. You’ll feel it when
you next shift but nothing as bad as the primary change.”
“Does it still hurt for you?”
“Nope. It’s still there but I’ve grown used to the pain.
Unlike many I never chose to turn it off. I like knowing what I am and letting
myself feel every second of my true nature. It’s far better than growing
stagnant to your wolf’s real identity as a lot of others have done.”
She stopped before they reached a small garden and smiled. Understanding the reason behind the expression, Caleb began undressing for her using her arm as a hanger. “Only for you,” he gently rubbed her cheek before dropping to all fours and shifting for her.
She jumped in excitement and he snarled watching her. Can you hear me? Kaya jumped back and
Caleb barked as he inched closer. I guess
that’s a yes.
“How can I hear you when I haven’t turned yet?”
Because it’s in your
blood. You have the gene so you’ll always be able to connect with your pack.
Kaya leaned down and rubbed the hair behind his ears causing
his tail to wag with satisfaction. She laughed and he jumped into her face
licking her from chin to forehead and leaving a long wet trail of drool on her
face. “Gross!”
You’re welcome! Come
on I want to show you something. They reached a small clearing near a pond
and she instantly recognized it as the place Charlie would bring her when she
was younger. She found her favorite rock and took a seat near the water and
watched as Caleb ran around for her as he continued explaining the traits and
habits of pack life.
A clicking noise echoed through the trees behind her followed
closely by the crunching of branches and Caleb jumped up on all fours and
stared in the direction waiting. A camouflage clad man appeared through the
falling leaves with his weapon aimed at the animal and he motioned to Kaya to
stay calm. “It’ll be ok, I’m a dead aim. Just don’t move these beasts can be
very vicious.”
“What?” Kaya asked confused as she stood from her rock and
looked towards the area the man pointed. Noticing Caleb just beyond the trees
she gasped and the hunter again tried to keep her calm with a hand gesture.
“Very slowly start moving towards me, I’ll keep him back for
you.”
Seeing the man inch towards his mate caused Caleb to growl defensively.
He moved closer towards the clearing keeping the man in his sights at all
times. Stay back Kaya. Trigger happy, nut
case, gun enthusiasts like him don’t care what they hit and I’ll be damned if I
let him hurt you. Caleb circled around the trees as the man moved closer
towards her.
Kaya stopped in her tracks and the hunter turned to acknowledge her. “What are you doing? It’s not safe here young lady. There’s no telling how many more of them are out there.”
As an example to the man’s words, Caleb howled triggering
the scouts on patrol to converge on the area, they were surrounded. The man
nervously checked the weapon in his hands to ensure he was fully loaded, took
aim at one of the scouts and fired. The bullet whizzed past Caleb’s head as he jumped in front of Kaya to protect her. Charlie immediately charged as well as
three others in his company and the man took off into the woods leaving Kaya
standing in a circle of blood thirsty wolves.
Check the area for
more hunters and get them out of here, Caleb instructed the remaining animals
near him. Let’s get back to the pack
house before he sends more people to look for you Ky. She followed him
quickly and headed into her room once they made it back safely.
Kaya knocked once before pushing her way into the office.
Caleb was alone sitting behind his desk and looked up at her as she started
towards him. “Hey I didn’t mean to disturb you. I was heading to bed and wanted
to stop in and say goodnight.” He pulled up from his seat and moved around to
the front of the desk and leaned against it as she spoke. “Uh yeah
so…goodnight.”
“Are you ok?” She stopped in her tracks and turned to face
him with a confused look. “Everything got a little crazy after our walk this
afternoon and I went out shortly with the others to secure the area. I was wondering if you were alright. I know it must have been scary and maybe even a little confusing.”
“Oh yeah I’m fine. You kept me safe after all and the hunter
was too scared to do anything to you once you howled and brought more pack
mates.” She smiled to herself thinking about how her Alpha had protected her.
It was an interesting sight and she felt proud knowing that her pack was there
whenever needed.
“Good. I’m sorry our walk was cut short but better safe than
sorry. I’ve told the pack also to remain inside for now and out of harm’s way.
This has given us even more reason to be vigilant.” Though the man ran off and
Caleb had brought Kaya back to the house, she had no idea what had really
become of him. Unfortunately for him, he could not be allowed to live and
inform the others in town of the number of wolves that came for him. The pack
hunted him down before he exited Shadowvale and made short work of him leaving
minor traces of his body to lead the locals to the conclusion of an animal
attack and perhaps serving as a warning to others who would dare trespass in their territory.
“Right well hopefully everything can get settled soon. One
thing I know is wolves hate being cornered and if they can’t roam, a lot of
them may go savage for real.” Caleb smirked and nodded in agreement watching
Kaya shifting nervously in front of him.
“So…was there something else?”
“So…was there something else?”
“Well kinda. Malena told me something else about true mates and feeling your wolf for the first time.” Slowly she approached him placing her hands on his chest, a
soft and delicate touch that prompted him to caress her hand in return. Caleb
looked down to where her fingers connected to his bare flesh and she could feel
his heart pounding harder in his ribcage.
“Oh yeah? And what did she say?”
“Oh yeah? And what did she say?”
“That you know if it was real after touching for the first time.” Kaya looked up coyly. And as he looked down at her so close
he could feel her breath on his lips. Caleb saw the flash of her blue eyes,
deep like the ocean, piercing the back of his they burned an image into his mind
that he’d never forget. His mate; she appeared so loving and vulnerable and yet strong and inviting at the same time. He counted the days to when she would transition hoping he could trigger it on her 18th birthday.
Tenderly Kaya slid her arm around his neck, her fingers splayed on his nape and she breathed more controlled as she put her plan into motion. She pulled him closer as though she had the strength to force him to kiss her. And with a touch as gentle as could be, he got the idea and brought his head forward. Taking mental note of the moment, she closed her eyes bringing her lips to within kissing distance of his. Quickly she planted her mouth on his catching him by surprise for a moment.
Kaya opened her lips and Caleb anticipated the touch of her
tongue and was not disappointed. The soft, moist feel of her tongue slipped
across his and she moaned at the connection. She danced little touches with the
tip of her tongue along the tip of his creating a warmth that spread through
his body. Caleb responded by pulling her nearer with his arm around her waist
and as he did she arched and twisted her back pressing more of her body against his. The kiss was all that mattered.
Their arms went through natural movements of caressing and rubbing and
squeezing but it only worked to make the connection of their lips more involved.
As their tongues gently danced with one another through the
sensation of lips on lips, they accepted their fate; what was destined to be
between one another. Kaya kissed him forcefully making her lips mold around his. Her
sighs and moans created a small opening allowing their tongues to flicker
against each other like the flames moving in harmony in the fireplace nearby.
And as he welcomed the sensation of her kiss on his lips, his
wolf struggled to explain the way he was feeling inside. It was the feeling of
knowing that his mate had finally chose him. After everything they had gone through in the last 15 years Kaya wanted this contact and let him know it. His hand pressed harder against the small of her back and Kaya became
more ardent in her actions tightening her arms around his neck.
As she forced her lips on him she breathed through her nose
with the practice of a woman wanting to be kissed. Her mouth opened wider
darting her tongue against his before relaxing slightly and allowing him to
move in response.
Caleb leaned her deeper in his arms pressing a very
passionate kiss into her lips that took her breath away. A knock on the door
broke them apart and Kaya straightened herself as she smiled at him. “Just a
minute,” he responded as he touched her face lightly. “I have waited so long
for this moment,” he spoke in a whisper pulling her close again and softly kissing
her lips. Kaya sighed dreamily feeling every ounce of his love being poured
into this one tender moment.
She pulled away once more, whispered goodnight against his mouth
and started for the door. Charlie poked his head inside the room as she exited
and Caleb motioned him forward. “Hey I was coming to tell you we found a few
more traps near the area you and Ky walked today and got them cleared out. I
have Erik, Matt and Kendrick looking around the rest of the territory. It
should all be cleared by the morning.”
“Thank you for taking care of this.” Caleb finished pouring
himself a drink and took a seat in front of the fireplace as he slowly sipped
down the clear liquid.
“Are you ok?”
“Me? Yeah I’m…perfect. Why?”
“You’re just acting weird is all. I saw Kaya leaving. Is
everything ok between you two?”
“Oh yeah,” he sighed as Charlie made himself
comfortable beside the fireplace. “She kissed me.”
“Really? And what, you didn’t like it?”
“No I liked it just fine me and the wolf both. It’s
just…she’s 15. And while I’d like nothing more than to allow her to appreciate
her love and trust in me I don’t want her to do that before she’s of age. It
doesn’t feel right to me.”
“Yes well as a teen she’ll most likely test your will more
than this once. She’s learning about love and the like and growing into her
sexuality. Perhaps you should find a way to distract her. Otherwise it’ll
become more a game to see how long you can resist allowing her to kiss you
again and honestly I think you will fail big time.”
“Yeah. Thanks Charlie.”
wow...um yeah horny teen, older friend that fills her head with sex talk and a hot mate. He's in big trouble over the next 3 years.
ReplyDeleteLOL and that's putting it mildly. Caleb will definitely have to speak with Malena about her conversations with his mate and try and avoid her at all costs...both may prove harder than they sound :P
DeleteI'm sorry but Caleb looked f'ing hot in this chapter. Just saying...
ReplyDeleteHaha yes! That's why I get threats whenever he has clothes on. Sometimes that can't be helped :(
DeleteHunters of wolves. Yuck and more yuck. I'm glad they were safe and no one was hurt.
ReplyDeleteBut... Caleb... Wow. haha... who's the master now, eh Caleb? hehehehe
Loved it.
The pack did a great job keeping everyone safe and Caleb did even better protecting his mate.
DeleteLOL Yeah Caleb is in for some interesting teen years if he's unable to distract Kaya like Charlie said. She's at the age of exploration and he wants to avoid her exploring him until she's of age!
